InForm Fitness — Privacy policy
Last updated June 20, 2026
Stone Mesa Studio, LLC does not collect, sell, or track your data, and InForm Fitness has no ads, no analytics, and no account to sign in to. Everything you log lives on your device. A few features use Apple's built-in frameworks1 or your own private iCloud2 to do their job, and one optional feature looks up nutrition facts from an outside service3 — each is described below, with exactly what is shared and how to switch it off.
What we collect
Nothing. InForm sends none of your personal information to us, and we run no server that receives your data — we have no way to see what you log. The only time the app contacts an outside service at all is the optional food-barcode lookup3 described below, and even then only a product's barcode number is sent, never anything about you.
Where your data lives
Your workouts, programs, routines, weight, measurements, meals, and progress photos are stored on your device. If you turn on iCloud, this content syncs across your own Apple devices through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) in your private iCloud account, where we cannot see it — it is governed by Apple's privacy policy. Turn it off: disable iCloud for InForm in iOS Settings; the app then keeps everything local to that device.
Apple Health
With your explicit permission, InForm works with Apple Health to make your training more useful. You grant access in the Health app and can change or revoke any part of it at any time.
When you allow it, InForm reads: steps, walking and running distance, flights climbed, heart rate, resting heart rate, active energy, height, date of birth, biological sex, sleep analysis, and workouts.
When you allow it, InForm writes: workouts, body weight, active energy, and walking/running distance.
Health data is processed on your device under Apple's HealthKit protections. It is never transmitted to us, never used for advertising, and never sold or shared. Turn it off: deny or revoke any category in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
Location and route maps
If you grant location access, InForm records your route during outdoor activities and draws it on a map. Your precise location is used on your device only — it is not sent to us — and the map itself is rendered by Apple Maps. Location updates may continue in the background while a workout is running so the route stays accurate. Turn it off: deny location permission in Settings (or set it to "While Using"), or log indoor activities, which don't use GPS.
Camera and photos
The camera is used to scan food barcodes and to take progress photos; the photo library is used if you import an existing photo. These images stay on your device (and sync only through your private iCloud if enabled). Turn it off: deny Camera and Photos permissions in Settings; both features are optional.
Music during workouts
If you allow it, InForm can show and control what's playing from your Apple Music / media library during a workout. This happens on your device through Apple's media framework and is never sent to us. Turn it off: deny the Media & Apple Music permission in Settings.
Motion and fitness
With your permission, InForm uses Apple's Motion & Fitness data (the device's motion sensors) to improve pace, distance, and elevation accuracy. This is processed on your device. Turn it off: deny Motion & Fitness in Settings → Privacy & Security.
Reminders
If you opt in, InForm can send habit and streak reminders. These are scheduled as local notifications on your device — there is no push server and we receive nothing. Turn it off: disable reminders in the app, or InForm's notifications in iOS Settings.
Apple Watch
If you use InForm on Apple Watch, workout data is exchanged directly between your watch and iPhone through Apple's on-device connectivity and a shared app container so complications and widgets can show your activity. None of this leaves your devices or reaches us.
Food barcode lookup
When you scan a packaged-food barcode, InForm sends only that product's barcode number to Open Food Facts — an open, free, community-run nutrition database — to retrieve the item's nutrition facts. No personal information is included, the request is not tied to your name or any account, and it happens only when you choose to scan. Open Food Facts handles the request under its own privacy policy. Turn it off: add foods manually or use the built-in search instead of scanning; the app never contacts Open Food Facts unless you scan.
No third parties
Apart from the on-demand barcode lookup above, InForm contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash-reporting, and no third-party tracking software of any kind. It includes no third-party code libraries that send data anywhere.
Notes
- Apple's built-in frameworks. Apple Health, Location & Apple Maps, Camera & Photos, Apple Music, Motion & Fitness, and local reminders are all Apple features that run on your device under Apple's permission system. They let the app work without sending your data to us, and you can grant or revoke each one in iOS Settings (see the matching section above). ↩
- Your private iCloud. If you enable iCloud, your content (including progress photos) syncs only through your own private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. Stone Mesa Studio cannot access it, and you can switch it off in iCloud settings. ↩
- The one outside service. The only server InForm contacts that isn't Apple or your own iCloud is Open Food Facts, and only when you scan a food barcode. Just the barcode number is sent — nothing that identifies you. Add foods manually to avoid it entirely. ↩
Children's privacy
InForm is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone.
